Company Profile |
 |
sje Schneider & Jorde Ecological Engineering GmbH has been in existence
since July 2001 and grew out of the work group Hydropower and River Ecology
under the professorial chair for Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources
(Professor emeritus Jürgen Giesecke) at the Institute for Hydraulic
Engineering (IWS) at the University of Stuttgart. The company has transformed
the results from the last ten years in research and development of the
aforementioned work group into engineering practice.
The company provides specialized engineering services in the areas of river
hydraulics, river ecology, river engineering, hydropower utilization,
and hydraulic engineering design.
The directors, Dr.-Ing. Matthias Schneider and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Jorde,
have years of experience in the development and execution of water resources
projects, in which special attention is paid to optimizing technical and
economic aspects, while at the same time meeting ecological requirements.
In order to supplement conventional instruments of planning, novel approaches,
including internally developed computer models, are taken. This allows for
the investigation of both hydraulic and economic aspects of a specific natural
system. This makes possible the comparison of ecological and economic effects
that result from adjusting different technical variables.
Training for such novel approaches is offered regularly; this training gives
an introduction to ecohydraulic investigation methods, or in other words,
the consideration of hydraulic parameters in direct connection to their
effects on water ecology.
